Biography
Kirk Hayes graduated from Drake University in 1958, with a B.A. degree in Political Science. He went on to attend Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan where he received a Sociology/Psychology degree in 1961, while serving as an officer of the U.S. Air Force. He completed Correspondence Courses at the Insurance Institute of America, Bryn Mawr, and obtained an Associates degree in Risk Management and the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter designation. Hayes joined Pharmacists Mutual as an Underwriter in 1963 and was elected Vice President in 1967; he served as President and Treasurer from 1975 - 2001. In 2001, Hayes was elected as Chairman and CEO and served in this role through 2003. He served as Chair of the board for Pharmacists Mutual and its subsidiaries until 2024. Hayes lives in Algona and has served on the Board since 1969.
