Biography

Jonathan Grether is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. In 2007, Grether earned a Master's degree in Insurance Management (MSIM) from Boston University. He has also earned his CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), CRM (Certified Risk Manager), ARe (Associate in Reinsurance), and AAM (Associate in Automation Management) designations. Prior to joining Pharmacists Mutual, Grether spent 13 years in various management positions with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company in Grinnell, Iowa. He also held the position of Executive Vice President with Guilderland Re in Albany, New York. Grether joined Pharmacists Mutual in 2002 as the Executive Vice President - Operations. In 2004, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Grether was elected to the Board of Directors in 2003. He retired on July 1, 2021 after 19 years with Pharmacists Mutual. Grether also serves on the Board of Directors for Iowa State Bank, Algona.
